When we last saw him, Schmidt campaign consultant
Eric Minamyer was disgracefully questioning Paul Hackett's service to this country and the sacrifices made by men and women who have served in civil affairs units in Iraq:
I understand that Hackett did not participate in combat at all. ... Let's just not act as though we led marines in combat if we did not, okay.
Not only was Minamyer insulting, he was also wrong. Last night, on his blog, he admitted he was, in fact, 100% wrong about Hackett's service. While I maintain that any member of our military who has served in the Iraqi theater has, by virtue of its inherent dangerousness, served in "combat," it turns out that Hackett's service record meets even Minamyer's ultra-narrow definition:
Did Paul Hackett lead marines in combat?
Yes on October 21, 2004.
Did Paul Hackett command marines at all, if so who?
Yes, at least on that date. The marines are in a picture he shows on the news report.
Was Paul Hackett in combat?
Yes, on October 21, 2004 traveling from Ramadi to Fallujah.
This just goes to show that truth is a tremendous disinfectant when it comes to Swift Boat Liars. If you let their lies goes unchallenged, they will just fester and propagate. But if you return fire, it will undoubtedly be withering.
