Over the years, I've noticed that many a conservative politician and pundit seem to have a deficient upper lip. Some could say this is a sign of a "stiff upper lip" and "resolve". I think it's a sign of being uptight - literally, their conservative outlook is reflected in their lip.
By the same token, liberals have fuller, more generous lips. (A college professor I had actually said that research supports this!)
Now when looking at Roberts, examine his lips:
