Amherst Massachusetts
The Amherst Common
September 25, 2005 Noon-5PM
An open invitation to progressive liberals and all other Kossacks to join Liberty for Massachusetts and the Pioneer Valley Libertarian Association* in a peaceful demonstration calling for the end of the War on Iraq.
Speeches. Music. A reading of the names of the dead. (For non-political significant others, we are sharing the Amherst Common with an art festival).
*The PVLA is not associated with the Libertarian Party of Massachusetts
More below the fold:
LfM and the PVLA are delighted to invite all people who wish to rally for ending the War
on Iraq to join us on the Amherst Common.
We realize that there are also events going on in Washington, D.C. the same extended weekend. However, there are a lot of people who simply cannot afford the time and money for that trip. Also, many local media only cover local news. A Western MA event will gather media attention that the DC event will not.
We have not nailed down the speaking and music schedule yet. We warmly welcome volunteers who might wish to be additional speakers, especially those who might lure more of an audience. We continue to look for small acoustic guitar, vocal, and jazz groups who would like to get up on a small stage to a modest crowd. We currently plan to do the reading of the names of the dead via audience participation.
(We realize that it would have made sense to do a Boston event the same day, but our resources are not infinite.)
