Adopt a District 2006 is ON THE AIR!
...well, sort of. For now, I parked a table of all 232 Republican held seats, opponents I could find (entirely those I found at ActBlue), their websites, and maps of the districts on a blogspot page here.
This is temporary, just like the Republican majority.

I just registered adopt-a-district.com - I'm aiming for an information/resource site, rather than another blog focusing on individual house races... Mainly because excellent sites already exist at www.ourcongress.org - and Jerome is
looking for help keeping the races up-to-date -, www.swingstateproject.com, and www.actblue.com.
Call it a feeder ramp/command center.
Ultimately, the goal of adopt-a-district is to feed resources, help, and people to the infrastructure that already exists and give adoptees a place to go for help, ideas, etc.
Adopting a district is everything from helping find candidates for unopposed races, posting regular race update diaries, blogging a race on your own blog, e-mailing friends and family, volunteering, etc; it's a confederation of Kossacks, netizens, grassroots, progressive bloggers - anyone that believes in the 50 state strategy.
I'm sure a lot of Kossacks, like me, live in districts whose Democratic congressman won't need much more than your vote this cycle, so we're going to spread the wealth. We're going give folks stuck "behind enemy lines" a hand. We're going do some load leveling and get quality candidates noticed as early as possible and help match volunteers to House races where they're needed.
In short, Adopt-a-district aims to bring the same hope, excitement, and possibilites to all 435 Congressional districts that we got from Paul Hackett and OH-02.
I'll be working on getting adopt-a-race.com up and running this weekend - look for another update in a few days.
For now -
• If you see a race currently listed as "unopposed", and know there's a candidate not listed STOP READING. GO TO WWW.ACTBLUE.COM. IMMEDIATELY LET 'EM KNOW. When you get back here, drop off the race, candidate, and candidate's website if they've got one, in the comments.
• Start thinking about what race(s) you want to "adopt". I'll keep track of the numbers - and if you're ready to start diarying or posting updates on your own blog, leave the URL.
• If you've got any thoughts or ideas, leave 'em here.
• What dem seats do we need to focus on protecting (i.e., need adopting?)
• In addition to gathering a comprehensive list of challengers, their sites, links to diaries/pages on other sites -- I'm going to try to put together lists of links to local media (tv/radio and newspapers) to help adoptees keep up on local news, demographics/past voting records, etc. Everything a growing blogosphere needs to take back our congress. Next week, I'll be asking for help getting all this together.
