Bush is always paying people back with jobs.
After snubbing his Democratic Party to deliver the Republican keynote address for President Bush, former Georgia Sen. Zell Miller (news, bio, voting record) seemed a good bet for an ambassadorship, adviser post or maybe even a Cabinet office. On Tuesday, the White House revealed Miller's choice: a seat on the American Battle Monuments Commission.
"I'm just an old man looking after cemeteries," Miller said in an interview Tuesday after President Bush tapped him for the job.

I know it isn't some grand ambassadorship but I still find it annoying. It is the way things work with the Rpeublicans. You scratch my back. I'll scratch yours.
I realize that it is this way in all of politics and business in genreal. However, it demonstrates a complete lack of ethics. People can buy ambassadorships these days from George W. Bush as long as they gave plenty of money to hsi campaigns. Zell Miller can be a traitor to the his Democratic party and speak out in favor of George Bush in the campaign. He gets a job in something he loves.
The article said that he would not receive a salary, just travel expenses. So he clearly isn't do it for the money.
But the first statement of the article makes me cringe. After snubbing his Democratic party to deliver the Republican keynote address for President Bush, former Georgia Senator Zell Miller seemed a good bet for an ambassadorship, advisor post or maybe even a cabinet post.
WHY?? This is what I want to know. Why? If Zell Miller wants to be a traitor to the Demcoratic Party, this is his choice. But why is a payback always expected? Why is it commonplace?
This is a serious ethics issue in American politics. I wish the public would hold President Bush and any others who operate in the payback fashion.
