AFP published a story today on Bush supporters and antiwar protesters squaring off in Crawford, TX. The article highlights Cindy Sheehan and her supporters who wish President Bush to explain again his reasons for going to war in Iraq.
What's interesting, however, is a pair of quotes towards the article's end:
Asked Saturday about the presence of Bush supporters opposite the antiwar protesters, Sheehan said "I don't want to argue with them. This is their right as Americans to do what they do, and we realize that."
Thomas Zapp, the father of another soldier killed in Iraq in November 2004, came to rally for Bush and "talk to Cindy."
"She expresses her opinion and I want to express mine to her. She has no right to call Bush a murderer and to compare him to Saddam Hussein," he said. more...
This is their right as Americans....
vs.
She has no right...
It's the difference between a grieving mother who wants answers and a thug. It's the difference between someone willing to ask difficult questions and a man who just does what he's told. It's the difference between an American (Sheehan) and a sheep (Zapp).
Perhaps someone should take Zapp out behind the barn and explain to him the Bill of Rights. With a stick.
