My hope for America in the age of Bush.
Gas at $4.00 even $5.00 or $6.00 a gallon.
The Commander in Chief tells us we need to stay the course for his "noble cause" which he refuses to explain to Cindy Sheehan. Okay. Let's see how much sacrificing America will accept for his war.
Americans loves big cars, Big Macs and cheap gas.
And many of our fellow citizens are moved to slap a big yellow "Support the Troops" decal on the backs of their big, bad gas guzzling cars.
These people are great Americans and they are making a beautiful statement. It demonstrates a fine patriotic spirit.
Now with gas prices spiraling, America is gonna have its opportunity to get down and dirty with Bushco. And these people with their yellow "Support the Troops" stickers will have the opportunity to participate in the sacrifice the Commander in Chief just can't seem to bring himself to ask for.
Yeah, it's gonna hurt--everybody, but I just keep thinking, elections have consequences.
For all of you who didn't vote or voted for Mr. Bush thinking this great oil man will usher in an era of cheap energy, well elections do have consequences.
Now we can all savor the shared sacrifice Bush never dared speak of, because after all the lies, after all the deceit, Bush did have his evil finger very much on the pulse of America.
Bush knew that he could never, ever sell this war if Americans were called on for one iota of sacrifice.
So, we're facing the moment of truth here. Maybe as Americans are called on to sacrifice at the gas pump, they will demand an end to this illegal and immoral war.
Maybe everytime they drive up to their favorite Chevron station, as they ready themselves for $6.00 a gallon gas, they will ask themselves why wouldn't Mr. Cheney release the information from his energy task force?
They might also wonder, why are the oil companies making record profits?
And to everyone who says, it's easy for you to be glib, you don't have to fill up every day, yes, I agree. But the inflation that is bearing down on us like a runaway train is going to hurt everyone--bigtime.
Elections do have consequences, for we the people, and also for you, Mr. Bush.
