I just watched Hardball, when a talking head, Mark Williams I believe is his name, went off big time on Coleen Rowley (yes, I know, Diary Police, this has been diaried, but I am writing an intelligent and insightful reflection, so please hold your fire for a moment. Hee hee.) He was rude, sexist, mean and out-of-control and anyone with half a brain, watching him, would say, "Whoa, is that what republican means today?? Do I want to be associated with that??" As we can see, fewer and fewer people want to be seen as supporters of Bush and the republican party today.
More below:
Next: The right wing has recruited a parent of a deceased soldier to speak against Cindy Sheehan: his name is Gary Qualls and he just said on Keith's that he would not leave his family and travel halfway around the country to speak out against the war, like that "Sheehan lady did." Keith corrected him and said that her kids were grown and she did have to leave to care for her mother, and would he like to restate his objections.
I apologize for saying this in advance: the poor man looked so vacuous and confused because that damn Keith took him off his talking points. He had a very slow response, very sad man. He is in my thoughts and prayers, and may he some day be able to look at the truth of the situation and ask Bush to account for it.
Next, Rush: he is now resorting to claiming that he did not say what he has said. Nutso - I heard his talk the other day, and I said, "Wow!! I cannot believe he is saying these things! He is the one out of touch with the 60% of Americans who are not happy that we went into Iraq, and with the 74% of Americans who feel the war made us LESS safe." Poor druggie - I wonder if he is using again, which might account for his loss of short term memory of things he has recently said.
Next, Hannity: he used to have a contrary voice on once in a while, but I have not heard one person who disagrees with the "party line" on in the last month. I admit I only listen in bits and pieces (it's all I can handle) but I have NOT heard ANYONE on who disagrees with him. Rush's callers have been at least 1/2 fighting with him, so I think Sean is a-scared to talk to anyone who tells him Bush lied, soldiers and Iraqi civilians died. No reason. No excuse.
Next, Michael Savage: he has deserted Bush and the repubs on so many issues, I would hardly call him a repub - more hard-core libertarian.
Regardless - they are all either liars - or completely nuts. THIS is our chance; we canNOT squander it!!! We must get our Senators, especially, to start talking against the war, call for a date to withdraw, Americans are in sympathy with that, we want our guys and women home, we don't want them dying to create an Islamic nation. NO!!!! Why won't they speak out; only the few brave ones are speaking out against this war. God, I want to scream because they are wasting this moment in time, afraid to be called unpatriotic and weak, but then, if they are weak, more than 1/2 of America is weak. Bush is a nut, but he said what he (crazily) believed and stood by it, and was admired.
Maybe we should just coalesce around Feingold. He and Hagel are the only ones with any cojones - which, by the way, I have thought about both of them for the last year. Both mavericks.
