I saw this story, which at once amused me with its silliness and at the same time made me even a bit more paranoid realizing that these freaks are in control of the United States Government:

The researchers reviewed dozens of studies and medical reports and said the data indicate that fetuses likely are incapable of feeling pain until around the seventh month of pregnancy, when they are about 28 weeks old.

While brain structures involved in feeling pain begin forming much earlier, research indicates they likely do not function until the pregnancy's final stages, said the report's senior author, UCSF obstetric anesthesiologist Dr. Mark Rosen.

They just make it up as they go, regardless of hard science, the appearance of being proven wrong, or logic itself.  They don't care.

I wonder how many of those freaks who thought a fetus felt pain will change their mind regarding forced motherhood?  Perhaps it may lead one to even imagine a fetus is not cognizant whatsoever?    And maybe, juuuuuust maybe, God would not condemn a soul that was never cognizant, or who could have never felt pain?...  Yeah, I know, fat chance.  Such is the price of dealing with folks adverse to learning, education, and science.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

  •  Its not exactly fair to call pro-lifers freaks, (none)
especially when this sort of science/research is ongoing. Although Im stridently pro-choice, I wouldnt have necessarily pooh-poohed the idea of fetal pain developing prior to week 28. Is this a reason not to terminate? Depends on the situation. Its all situational.

Im 23 weeks pregnant and supposedly if I were to give birth right now there would be a 5%-15% chance the baby could survive. Its odd to think it couldnt feel pain...but not beyond the realm of my imagination.

  •  No need for the ad-homs (4.00)
I'm on your side of this issue, but I do know some 'freaks' and don't think such a tone is in anyway helpful.  Both Pro-Rights and Pro-Lifers would like to see as few abortions as possible, so why don't we stop the fighting and try to solve the problem of abortion without having to criminalize it.
  •  Not exactly the optimal way to announce this (none)

I saw this story, which at once amused me with its silliness...

Geez-a-lou.  Lots of us out here don't think this issue of privacy for each individual woman regarding sex and the consequences for or failure of birth control, is a silly matter.
