First as an outsider of religion, and as one who doesn't believe in personal deities, I must admit that these storms do bring up an interesting topic.
Whose God is winning?
For many people, particularily those waging this war on both sides, they do both seem to beleive that god is responsible for everything, and with that, how are these storms seen? I am sure chrsitian apologist will find some flawed logic to dismiss these storms ( they make a lifetime of doing just that) but yet one has to ask. If your christian god is the right deity, why is he kicking your ass? First Florida gets hit last year with the worst series of storms in our history, and NOW the south is hit with the biggest storm in our country's history.
Allah , it seems is laying the smack down. Over across the world, muslims pray everyday for just these types of events, and guess what? they are happening. I would guess not too many in the arab world are too sad today because of our misfortune, I would even go so far as to say the are emboldened.
Again as an outsider, it seems to me, that in the battle of the gods, one god is indeed winning and it ain't the christian one.
I personally would find this whole arguement amusing, and at some level I do, but unfortunately in this world this personal deity crap is taking all to seriously.
I guess I just wanted to put this out there since with god being such a big part of this war, I was wondering why god never gets bad press. Once again , I am sure beleivers will spin this anyway they have to in order to save themselves from having to think. Christians will 'thank god' for sparing their lives all the while ignoring that god just destroyed their houses, jobs, and communities for no good reason, and muslims will praise "god is great" no matter if they contnue to live in a shit hole or not.
Again, the whole thing would be amusing if it wasn't taking so serious by so many.Thoughts?
ps. will global warming get any airtime since it is the true cause here. As water temps rise ( they are up 2 degrees this year in the gulf)these storms will become all to common, or will we just continue to throw our arms in the air and shout" Its all god's will?"
