While the Preznit's approval rating continues to
languish, I thought these numbers in the new ABC/Post poll were the most interesting and telling:
59% of Independents polled think the Democrats have not gone far enough in vocally opposing the Republican's policies. 77% of Democrats and 21% of self-identified Republicans agree.
What constitutes a shift in the wind strong enough for a pro-war Democrat's licked finger to detect it? What constitutes "permission" to grow a spine, to stand up and say "with all due respect, The President is full of it"?
Is this enough?
"Somebody needs to speak up," said Michelle Burgess, 41, a home health aide in St. Louis. "Enough is enough. I don't understand why we're over there in Iraq or what he's doing on other issues. There are too many lives being lost."
Somebody needs to speak up. Democratic Congressional somebodies need to get behind Russ Feingold and the other few brave souls who have spoken up so far. The speaking up needs to become a chorus, echoing over the hillsides towards DC.
