The genesis of this post are the positions I've heard spouted over the last few days that the federal government owes nothing to the people who's lives have been destroyed over the last few days. That it owed them nothing to keep them safe before, and owes them nothing to rebuild their cities. Their lives.
There are great writers here. Hunter comes to mind. One of his posts was the first I read here. I thought to myself "Sam Seaborne would say "He's one of us" ". There are lots of others. Like most visitors here I suspect, some of them I agree with, some of them I don't. But great writing transcends ideologies.
We the people DO owe them. Great writers can now tell us why.
