Be kind, this is my first or possibly second diary, so please bear with me. I just saw a woman scientist on Keith Olberman's Countdown (sorry, didn't catch her name as I tuned in late) and she was talking about how New Orleans will not have a source of fresh water for months and months to come, perhaps even longer. It breaks my heart to see the horrors that have been brought down on N.O. by these criminals. I want so much to be a part of something to really help. Is there a feasable way to transport Great Lakes water to N.O. at a massive level.
Is this something we in the midwest states might be able to do. It would take getting all the governor's involved, and senators and what have you, I realize that....but it might be worth a try. I'm in Indiana about 35 miles from Lake MI. I've just called a couple of people I know and I'm trying to come up with some ideas. Is this a completely insane idea or is it something we might be able to get started as a community?
Perhaps states in other regions with abundant fresh water sources would become involved too? Am I crazy? Well yes, I am, but that's beside the point. Is my idea crazy? I sure hope not. Please tell me what you all think!
