I know this has nothing to do with Katrina, but what the hell is up with
this?
Sales of over-the-counter cold remedies used to make methamphetamine would be restricted under a bill that passed the Senate on Friday.
The measure, approved by unanimous consent, would require stores to sell Sudafed, Nyquil and other medicines only from behind the pharmacy counter...
[The] bipartisan bill [was] co-sponsored by Sens. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., and Jim Talent, R-Mo.
It's going to the House. PLEASE call or write your Representative. While you're at it, give Feinstein an earful (202) 224-3841. Don't these shitheads have more important things to do?
We need more access to medical care not less. They're going to keep a record of how much cold medicine we buy and make us show photo ID to buy Nyquil? It's like we're in elementary school and the nurse is going to carefully dole out the aspirin. Most people buy cold medicine because they HAVE A COLD, not because they want to make meth. I don't know about you, but I really don't want the government to know when I get a cold. It's none of their damned business. Plus, since there's no cure for colds, any kind of relief treatment seems like a good thing.
Instead of limiting the sale of MEDICINE, maybe the government could, I don't know, limit the sale of red phosphorous and iodine, two chemicals, according to Feinstein herself, that are needed to make meth.
I agree that meth is a problem. Limiting the rights of innocent sick people isn't the damned answer.
