CNN has shown that it
will force its commentators to correct themselves when their make-believe Dean quotes are flagrant enough. Which leads me to this:
Dobbs:
DOBBS: Karen, Howard Dean saying that race played a deadly role in this recovery effort, basically accusing the administration and the agencies of racism, in terms of the slowness and the inadequacy of the response
Dean:
BLITZER: Do you believe the response from the federal government, the Bush administration specifically, the president of the United States, that there were racist or racial overtones in that response?
DEAN: No
I don't know if Dobbs intentionally lied about what Dean said, or if his contempt for Dean is so irrational that it simply impaired his thinking, but Dobbs was clearly in error and should be forced to correct himself. Because regardless of whether you believe Bush, et al. responded slowly out of racism, Dean clearly stated that he believes otherwise, and he deserves just the slightest amount of respect as to have his statements not turned around 180 degrees.

Avoid screeds, which just make folks tune out. Just juxtapose the quotes and demand the correction.
