I'm a new member here at dKos--been here for about a week or so. I was so angry after Katrina that I needed to be involved in this group. I've been angry for a long time, but have had some free time now that I'm in California for a few months with my partner. I'm also active in the town in MI where I live. But I felt like I was missing a community of discussion and open debate.
At any rate, I just wanted to let all you good folks here on dKos know that
you helped me hone my thoughts and distill them enough to get an LTE published in the NYTimes. I know that paper's not the most popular with some of us . . .
My letter is in response to John Tierney's column of last week where he projected Republican fear of accountability onto Democrats.
I'm on page A28

So thanks to dKos for being such a swell community, for presenting interesting and thoughftul ideas, and for being so thorough and bright. m
I hope this is okay as a diary entry. I just thought people might like to see how dKos is helping others find their voices to stand up to some of these loonies in the MSM.
UPDATE
Here's the text of the letter:
To the Editor:
John Tierney should stop projecting Republicans' fear of accountability onto the Democratic Party.
This Democrat, for one, and many I know, could not care less about the political party affiliation of those responsible for the disaster that has been the federal response to Hurricane Katrina.
It's time to quit placing our political parties' images ahead of the best interests of our nation.
Americans are outraged at this government's incompetence. The federal
government has failed our fellow citizens.
Let an independent investigation go forward; let the chips fall where they may.
