I get asked a lot of questions as I run for Congress. That's healthy.
We have an administration in Washington that is so confident in its own views that it has ignored all evidence to the contrary. What's worse, we have a rubber-stamp Congress that hasn't asked the tough questions that would give us a better government and a better future. That's not healthy.
I spoke at the annual Brown County Democratic steak fry last night, and I asked some questions of my own. This is my list of some of the questions that Congress should have asked in the last few years:
- Do we have a plan to win the peace in Iraq?
- Do our troops have the body armor they need to stay safe?
- Is it really a good idea to put a horse judge in charge of FEMA?
- What's going to happen to the deficit if we increase spending, cut taxes, and fight a war at the same time?
- Why does our energy policy consists of little more than drilling in the Arctic and giving tax breaks to big oil companies?
What would you like your representatives in Congress to ask?
