Newswire: Peter Deutsch to Assist Constitutional Challenge of Electors on Behalf of ReDefeatBush

Sat Jan 01, 2005 at 05:37:32 PM PDT

The Committee to ReDefeat the President, a federal PAC better known by the name of its popular ReDefeatBush.com Web site, has secured the assistance of Peter Deutsch, who will conclude his  tenure as a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives at noon on Monday, Jan. 3, 2005.  Deutsch will help ReDefeatBush and other organizations that are working on a Constitutional Challenge to the electoral votes of Florida, Ohio and potentially other states.

Preparations are underway for a public forum on Wednesday afternoon at the Capitol at which Deutch will publicly question some of the key witnesses to activities that may have surpassed the boundaries of normal partisanship and crossed over into illegal activity in Florida.  In his preparation Deutsch has the assistance of Wayne Madsen, an experienced analyst and investigator who previously worked for the National Security Agency.

Deutsh seems like a good guy to me:

- helped the house vote to block Bush's overtime regulations

- hosted public forums on stem cell research

- spoke out agaisnt the intimidation of black elderly voters in Orlando

along with his reputation, Deutsch will have several tools to get this movement started:

- the cooperation of Congressman Tom Sawyer (D-OH) who was an elections monitor in the Ukraine
Source: http://www.usukraine.org/monitorsJuly.shtml

- A detailed report comming from Congressman Conyers

In order for these actions to be effective in creating an impact on the psyche of the average citizen, there must also be public support. A vital part of any movement is it's size, and it is now time for the people to act; it can not be just lawyers and politicians.

www.RedefeatBush.com has listed various events that will be taking place in January. I would encourage anyone who is able to attend these events to do so.

I voted for him in SEN primary because he ran a commercial stating how Martinez would wipe up Castor with that USF terrorist guy crap.  And he sure did.

And Deutsch saw that shit coming months ahead.
We need LEADERS like that, who can predict GOP moves, because if you pay attention, Rove and GOP telegraph their punches far in advance.

    Unfortunately, DCN doesn't pay attention.

I don't think the terrorism thing did Castor in. She just plain lost a tight race in an unexpectedly red state. Castor could have run a commercial saying how Martinez would have killed Deutssch for being waaaay liberal, and she would've been right, too. It's not prescient to pick out your opponent's weakness, especially when you have your own to deal with.

More importantly, Deutsch ran a really rotten race. I was so, so disappointed in him. There's ruthless, then there's ruthless. Much of the details have faded now, but I remember a close associate of his set up an organization to viciously attack Castor. There were editorials who really dogged him for what he did. There's a difference between being a fighter, and just being a total asshole. To a lot of folks who didn't know how good a rep. Deutsch was, he just came off as the latter.

      •  Castor has about zero TV charisma - (none / 0)

lucky for her that Martinez has none either.  This was the only open Senate race 2004 that was not predictable based on charisma.  Even AK and KY were predictable.  Wonder when Democrats are going to figure out that the messenger is an important factor in elections.  It's as if we have a case of Dukakisitis and we are in denial that this is contributing to our unhealthy state.`
