Our local republican congressman, Wally Herger, was in town recently for a 'town hall meeting' about social security. I was unable to attend but it sounds like I didn't miss much.
A letter to the editor to our local paper describes the meeting like this:
Herger talk an insult
Wally Herger must really think his constituents are an ignorant lot. At the March 31 meeting, he spent more than 40 minutes on information anyone interested in the subject would already know, but worse, his cohort from Social Security put up the very simplistic slides about the problems and then read them to us. Please!
After an hour, when we finally got to questions, either Herger or his buddy would aggressively refute any comments put forward, even though he claimed to be coming here to listen to us ... a shameful waste of time, and truly patronizing. We as an audience were well informed and deserved better than that.
