Americans hate politics.

Really?  I got a little bit frustrated with a response to one of my comments stating that Democrats shouldn't oppose too many things, because Americans hate politics.  I think that this attitude is fairly wide-spread amongst Democrats, and that is a big problem.

First of all, when an American doesn't like politics, he or she generally doesn't pay attention to them and wouldn't know what the Democrats are opposing and wouldn't really care.  He or she is probably not a voter anyway.  Getting the person to care is good, but that is not my focus.  The people who care about politics are the ones watching the news about it.  They're going to have an opinion on what either party does anyway.  I don't think that elected officials should be trying to appear nice and ready to appease, just because they don't want to offend someone.

Good grief.  Politics is how government works on the highest level.  It's about the clash of ideas and how those ideas get turned into policy.  Policy affects people, whether they like politics or not.  That is the center of the issue.  Democrats have to oppose the Republicans, because their ideas are leading to policies that hurt people very much.  Our leaders should never forget this.

I don't remember who it was but sombody wise did say: "He who claims politics is not his business, has no business".

Americans DO hate politics.  They hate long explanations, detailed reports, convoluted arguments, and indepth discussions of the facts.

Basically, your average American wants a fast food feed of information in an easily digestible format.  They want to go along to get along and hate the attention span of a hampster.

Americans are...hold on, my phone is ringing.

    ...

Where was I?  Oh, nevermind.  Must not have been important or I wouldn't have forgot.
