This may be a really stupid question, I know nothing about governmental budgeting, but you don't know unless you ask. Maybe there are some accountants to answer this...
If the Tax-Cut costs anywhere between 600 billion & 1 trillion dollars:
Why can't the goverment just cut a check for a million dollars or more for every man, woman, and child to stimulate the economy?
Bear with me...
The tax cut costs between 600B and 1T over ten years. That's 60B to 100B a year. There are 290 million Americans. Even if 90 percent of the taxcut went to the wealthy, corporation, and small business, that would still leave 6 to 10 billion a year to give to every person in the country.
I know this will NEVER happen, but I've always wondered why it couldn't happen. Why does somthing that has the cost of sending a man to the moon, only give a rebate of a couple hundred dollars?
