With the news that Apple is releasing Video iPods, Dems need to again be at the forefront of offering podcasts, this time for v-casts.
We ought to have national Dem orgs releasing speeches, debates, etc. to highlight the left's progress, ideas and candidates. We ought to have activists releasing marches, rallies and the like. We ought to have policy institutes releasing interviews, meetings, speeches and more. And, of course, bloggers can put voice and motion to their words...
The key here is that we are now fully capable of doing the exact same thing Atwater and Rove did for conservatives in the 80s and 90s. Then they used direct mail to laserbeam their messages straight into conservative homes. Obviously that has since evolved into targeted cable channel ads, ad buys in overt conservative or right-leaning media (including websites), and the like.
Dems have picked up on this a bit, but just as John Edwards started doing podcasts we need to now also pick up on videocasts. It's yet another way for us to target our messages and ideas -- and to further develop and, more importantly, bolster a liberal infrastructure to rival the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy.
I don't have much more to add other than we ought to be at the forefront of utilizing this progressive technology to advance liberty, justice and the American Way.
