Members of the
Coalition of African, Asian, European and Latino Immigrants of Illinois (CAAELII) are planning to
protest the daylong meeting of the
Minuteman project* planned for Saturday in Arlington Heights, Illinois. If you are in the area, why not stop by with some
acerbic words for a few ultra-radical conservatives?

Members of a group that opposes illegal immigration will host a daylong meeting at the Christian Liberty Academy in Arlington Heights on Saturday.

Saturday's event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is the first large meeting of the Chicago Minuteman Project.

However, at least one group maintains the Minuteman group promotes racism. Members of the Coalition of African, Asian, European and Latino Immigrants of Illinois (CAAELII) will protest in front of the Christian Liberty Academy on Saturday, said Khem Nuth, a CAAELII member.
Nuth calls the Minuteman group "the new Klu Klux Klan." CAAELII members say they will dress up in white sheets to illustrate their point at 11 a.m. Saturday.
If you would like to join the protest tomorrow (Saturday), the Christian Liberty Academy is at Euclid and Walnut Avenues in Arlington Heights, IL 60004 (map). It sounds like the protests really get underway at 11am even though the Minuteman meeting runs from 9am to 4pm. (I do not know if the protesters have police permits.)
If you attend, please be respectful of the neighboring Olympic Park and Pool -- kids' soccer games and swim classes may be going on right across the street. Do not park in the Olympic Park parking lot. Street parking should be available in the neighborhoods nearby.
The location is also a 10 minute walk (directions) from the Arlington Heights Metra train station. The Arlington Heights station is on the Union Pacific Northwest Line out of Northwestern Station.
If you go, consider bringing a flag -- at least one of those 50 stars represents you too.
And remember, a lot of the real minuteman from the War for Independence for immigrants themselves!
* yes, that Minuteman website's a spoof ... doesn't seem too far from reality though, now does it?
