  •  just a thought (none / 1)

you might want to append "upcoming media appearances" to your title

My teeth aren't white enough for DailyKos, so adios.

  •  Mike S will be appearing (3.00 / 3)

  •  Clark pisses me off (none / 1)

For being a regular on Fox.

FOx uses guys like Clark to RAISED their viewer ratings, because they get LIBERALSdv to watch because Clark is going to be on.

THey did the same with Phil DOnahue when their ratings were gaggind because LIBERALS stopped watching to get themselves pissed off about what Fox was doing.

Clark feed into these guys ability to stay on the air.

    •  You got it bass ackward (4.00 / 5)

Clark joined Fox to speak to the repubs, moderates, and the few libs who watch that despicable network. It's paying off in tremendous name recognition and was a truly BRILLIANT move. He's using them - not the other way around.
      •  ALL HIS DOES (none / 0)

        Is add to THEIR RATINGS.

When CLARK appears on their show, it gives CREDENCE to their CLAIMS to be FAIR AND BALANCED.
It RAISED  THEIR RATINGS, so they can CLAIM to have the LARGEST viewing audience of ALL the cable news networks.

        As you said

"Clark joined Fox to speak to the repubs, moderates, and the few libs who watch that despicable network."

Dont give them any reason to WATCH.

        RAtings are the game.
And the advertisers do not give a DAMN if you LOVE or HATE Fox.

as long as you watch them.

        CLark helps them EARN MONEY.

    •  Did it ever occur to you... (4.00 / 4)

...that by allowing Clark on Fox a sane and rational face of the Democratic Party is being presented to a viewership that is accustomed to weak-kneed fools like Colmes?

Clark regularly bull-whips O'Lielly and Hannity, revealing them for the lying fools that they are, and does it by brilliantly deconstructing their talking points in a rational and logical manner.

Try watching his Fox appearances first, or check out the archived (and much lauded) clips on Crooks & Liars, before casting such a disparaging and uninformed judgement.

    •  Pissed me off too.... (none / 1)

...until all the Republicans I work with and know started bringing up the fact that "Hey, I saw your Clark guy on TV really give it O'Reilly. You know I could vote for that guy." or "I saw that Clark fella on Fox the other night, he makes a good case.  Why don't all of them just tell it straight like he does?".

I was really wary of him going to Fox but the fact is we can't win a base war -- we need crossover candidates.

When all is said and done Clark will not only be the most formidable of all crossover candidates, the time he spends on Fox dismantling talking points and revealing their logic as flawed and inaccurate makes it easier for all Democrats running for office -- dogcatcher to President.

Its the Lieberman's that you should wroried about -- not the Clark's who take the fight to them and never EVER backdown.

      •  And he's getting better (none / 1)

I thought the idea was good initially but then in the first few appearances I wasn't sure he took them to task quite enough.

But he's been getting steelier -- and if they try attacking him, like O'Reilly's done the last couple of times -- he hits back with real conviction. Never engages in shouting matches, but refuses to be talked over or have his opinions reinterpreted for him (one of O'Reilly's favorite tactics).

Not only is he reaching potential crossover voters and establishing his name and credentials, but he's sharpening his skills at handling the RW talking points.

And it makes the "well, yeah he was a General, but a slightly crazy one" meme harder to get going next time for the right wing smearers.

I can understand people not wanting to watch Fox -- I only put it on when I know Wes is making an appearance and I don't think that's enough to boost their ratings or their advertising revenue. But don't underestimate Murdoch's sensitivity to the bottom line. If having a strong liberal on boosts ratings, they'll have more of them.

Murdoch's only loyalty is to his own profits and if pumping out right wing propaganda starts getting less profitable, don't kid yourself he'll keep doing it because he's ideologically committed or something.

    •  Nah -- better he's there! (none / 0)

He's the perfect type (as Dean was, only better suited to this venue) to pick up crossover votes. To  make people think.

Bring it on, baby. Let those Fox-niacs try to rattle him. Heh.

Be good to each other. It matters.

  •  I too wish he had not taken the Fox (none / 0)

"Contract with the Devils", but every time I have seen him on, he battles and holds his ground. He takes no shit and call names....even busting O'Reilly a few times in the mouth. I forgive him for signing on and taking Fox's dirty money, but he has not compromised his intergity, like Tricky Dick Morris. Clark is in our future!!!! Gore/Clark 08!!!!

It looks like the one "Forbes on Fox" is an hour show.  Is that EDT?

  •  All the questions for bush! (none / 1)

Maybe it's the Sun Tzu in Clark, but he seems to be putting the squeeze on bush. Why should we put forward the ultimate "plan" when only bush has control over the process. And yet, Clark's asking the questions and forcing the debate. Most of all, he calling for a diplomatic end game. Ritter did the same thing this afternoon with Blitzer.
    •  Interesting; two-stage knockout (none / 0)

There's the risk of being labelled as not having a solution of your own, but I can see the wisdom in not offering one until it's clear that Bush doesn't have one (well, it's already clear to some of us).

In fact, the Reps do the same thing to the Dems on social policy. The media want "new ideas". Well, we already HAD good programs in place, and it would be better to restore them than to cook up something just to counter the Republican lack of policy.

(I don't mean to imply that the Dems lack social policies the way Bush lacks a policy in Iraq; I mean the Reps and the media put the Dems on the defensive for their own shortcomings.)

    •  Sun Tzu quote (none / 0)

In an op-ed in the Intl Herald Tribune the other day, Zbigniew Brzezinski paraphrased Sun Tzu: the best way to defeat your enemy is to let him defeat himself.

Excellent parallel between ancient and modern warriors. Also, Clark does have the diplomatic skills (and respect) Bush lacks.

  •  Great (none / 0)

There seems to be consensus in the comments above about the infiltration of the enemy (Clark on Fox) is working out well, and not just from Dems but from Reps. Excellent.

  •  PS (none / 0)

Fox did the Same thing getting Bill Maher on, Donahue and so on.

IN the light of Air America, Fox's television alking heads have taken MAJOR ratings hits, and the radio heads have had even LARGER ratings drops.

In order to pick up their viewers, they need LIBERAL who hate them to haveSOME reason to watch.

To breathe NEW life into their sagging ratings.

CLake is just ANOTHER method for them to keep their ratings up for advertising revenues.
