Interesting article posted on the Hill. Rep. Ciro Rodriguez looked as though he won his primary, beating back a stiff challenge from a turncoat Dem until a ballot box mysteriously appeared and handed the election to Henry Cuellar.
The plot only thickens as we go along...check this out
The CHC has claimed that the bank (owned by a republican)is a supporter of Cuellar and thus the "found" Cuellar ballots are questionable. They continue to discuss openly that as soon as he wins the general in November he will change parties and go R taking a safe democratic seat with him. He was a dem state rep, but endorsed GWB in 2000 and worked for Governor Perry. He also stabbed Rodriguez in the back after he helped Cuellar in a battle for another congressional district.
Rodriguez is beginning to test the waters and ask for donations to a legal fund which Rep. Bob Menendez has alluded to supporting leading to a long drawn out legal battle that could rip apart the CHC.
Is this purely a case of lost ballots or a case of buying off a former democrat for use by Republican forces in a state they have already corrupted? The answer will only come in November, I don't like the chances that Rep. Ciro Rodriguez will win his legal challenge, but if he starts up a legal fund I will pony up. This is a situation in which the alternative and the background story lead to a good democrat getting the shaft and somebody needs to tell him we are pulling for him.
