In a
highly recommended diary, one of our own woke up...if only temporarily (I have little faith in the ability of most of us to
permanently recover from decades of mass media hypnotism. On the evidence. Sorry.)...to the fact that CNN is totally in the employ of Corporate America.
Duh.
It's a little late in the game, folks...
Here is my response.
This is SUCH old news.
Really.
Anyone who has not stopped watching corporate news for anything other than information about exactly how they are running their game deserves whatever government they get.
If a bell tolls in the forest and no one is allowed to report it...it does not exist.
Until it tolls for thee.
And by then it is too damned late.
Everyone who posted a response to the diary linked above and said how wonderful it is that someone has "seen" this is fast asleep, as is the original diarist. This whole response shows a level of awareness about as high as that of a grownup who suddenly looks up at the sky and says "Oh!!! It's BLUE!!!. I never noticed that before!!!"
Wake up, people!!!
This has been going on since the '60s, and you have been totally hypnotized.
The last time ANY large percentage of the mass media actually took action against any segment of the Permanent Government was Watergate and the events that led up to it...the Pentagon Papers, etc...and even THAT was run by one faction of that PermaGov in order to take down another.
Look at Google News for the reality of this current mess.
Here we are, prattling on about "Fitzmas" like a bunch of children waiting for the tooth fairy.
Front page, Google News, 9:10AM EDT.
NOT A FUCKING WORD!!!
Straight faced reports about Rumsfeld harrumphing over his usual fare of war and destruction.
About Condoleeza threatening Syria and Iran with war.
Plus the usual pap.
Yet ANOTHER "breakthrough against cancer."
Etc.
Wake the fuck up.
Until there is a straightforward economic collapse that brings these corporations to their knees...and babies, this ain't gonna be a pleasant experience for most of us...nothing is going to change. We fondly look back on "Watergate" as if everything is going to right itself.
Again.
Well, I've got news for ya.
It didn't "right itself" THEN!!!
We had 3 years of Gerald Ford (allowed to stay on in order to clean up the messy remains of THAT coup), a little glitch in the plan with 4 years of a truly honorable man, Jimmy Carter, and then...WHOOPEE!!!
HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN!!!
Reagan and the cabal of criminals who are running things now.
Same names, only a little younger.
Cheney, Rumsfeld, Bush...
As the corporate powers-that-be consolidated their hold on the media.
So now...here we are.
Evidence of fixing and hustling that makes the Nixon efforts seem...childish in comparison.
LOTS of evidence.
And where are the major reports?
The front page, hold the presses headlines?
NY Times front page, 10/20/05
(That's today, for those of you mistakenly thinking that we are living in 1974 again.)
