Howard Dean is continually the target of such media bias that it seems to be hurting the Democratic Party's attempts at putting forward a unified message.
The recent example of this bias was today on George Stephanopoulos' show. Continually, Howard Dean gets asked for his personal position on issues. His personal beliefs are not important, the message of the Party is. Maybe I am missing something but I never see Ken Mehlman ever have to answer a personal question about myself. How I would love to see Stephanopoulos ask Mr. Mehlman, "The President has come out for a constitutional amendment against gay marriage, how does that square with your beliefs?"
I don't think it is too much for the media to understand that Howard Dean is not in congress or running for office. His personal beliefs are his own, it is not the party's platform (although it wouldn't be a bad thing if they were). But as long as Dr. Dean is forced to defend his personal beliefs, opportunity to put forward the party platform is lost, and he shouldn't have to stand for it.
