After Fitzmas Comes Terror Alert!

I'm sorry to burst your Fitzmas bubble, but expect a brand new terror alert right after those indictments are handed down. "Enemies" of America will emerge from the deep shadows of the underground, and "specific threats" will be uncovered. Shadowy figures will use baby carriers as weapons to try to kill us all. Be afraid! Be very afraid! Sound familiar? Wait for it!

If there is one thing we can trust the Bush administration to do reliably well, it is to use terror to deflect from it problems and incompetence. This time will be no different. A few weeks ago, Keith Obermann of MSNBC chronicled a string "coincidences" between Bushie bad news and terror alerts. Bush has this down to a science, you could almost bet your firstborn on it. If those indictments are handed down today, expect new terror alerts by this weekend or early next week.

•  Maybe the People Will Wake Up

  I don't doubt it'll happen but if I were in the White House I'd be very careful about using that tactic now. Let's review...
  
  Valerie Plame's job in the CIA was to get nuclear material from the former Soviet Union off the black market so it could not get in the hands of terrorists who would use it in the US. By exposing Valerie Plame, the White House exposed her entire network and neutered the ability of the CIA to protect us from this particular threat.
  
  So when the indictments come, the White House reminds of the threat of terrorism? When Fitzgerald has just revealed that they don't REALLY care about protecting us? When you've already had mentions in the MSM of the correlation between terror threats and political convenience to the White House. In a just world, this effort will blow up in their faces and on most days I still believe that ultimately, there is justice.
