Open Letter to President Bush

Sat Oct 29, 2005 at 10:25:51 AM PDT

Dear Mr. President,

I am writing to you because I am confused as to your stand on ethics in the White House. The Vice President's chief of staff has been indicted for lying to a grand jury and for obstructing justice in the investigation to uncover who leaked the name of an undercover CIA agent to the public. Your close advisor, Karl Rove, has been implicated in this leak.

Although, Mr. Rove was not indicted yesterday, it is obvious that he played a part in this clearly unethical act. This is where, I become confused. At one point, you said anyone involved in this should, and would be fired. Your White House would stand for ethical behavior and honesty.

But now, you seem unwilling to take the necessary steps to back up your words. Karl Rove should be fired. His actions have been neither ethical or honest. Until, Mr. Rove is fired, you are guilty of obstructing justice in my eyes, and your lack of action shows a tacit approval of his actions.

For a man who professes to hold himself to a higher moral standard, I find this completely indefensible. Please fire Mr. Rove. It is the only way integrity can be restored to the White House.

  •  Good letter. (none / 0)

I think your letter expresses a frustration that many of us feel.  Why is it that we are letting this blame fall at the feet of Libby?  If there was ever a time when Chaney and Bush should be accountable for the actions of their subordinates, it is now.

This is Chaney and Bush's responsibilty.  Libby is toast, but where is the outrage toward the people who gave him his marching orders?
