Although I am a horrible strategist and an even worse tactician and can't begin to understand today's gamesmanship, I believe that Fitz knows where to take this investigation. His question for us, the American people, is do we want him to.
I believe the text of the indictment was very telling. The prominence of the Niger documents and the President's fateful Sixteen Words in the body of the indictment suggests to me that Fitz truly understands the motive for the leak and is more than willing to go after the powers that be. Do we want him to beyond a single indictment?
If Fitz tackles the ultimate motivation for the leak (the case for War), it will damage this country immeasurably. Are we willing to endure an executive branch whose sole purpose is to survive this scandal. Are we willing to endure 3+ years where nothing of substance is accomplished? Are we willing to rebuild our Republic once he has demolished its very foundation? We did it once before after Watergate, I think he wants to know if we are willing to do it again.
