I think there's a reasonable agreement that one of the main reasons the Democrats lost in 2004 was that they let Republicans force them into picking a wrong side in 2002/2003 by supporting Iraq. That resulted in retarded statements like Kerry's "I voted for it before I voted against it", Hillary's continued "I'm a hawk" games, and problems for many other candidates. However, the events of this year, from problems in Iraq to Plamegate to Coingate to DelayGate, present a unique opportunity for Democrats to play back at Republicans the same way. All they have to do is starting right now force every Republican congressman or candidate to give a clear yes or no answer to questions about Iraq, crimes in the White House, etc. The answers are irrelevant - as long as the Republicans give clear yes or no, the answers could be used against them come election time. Failure to ask these questions now would be a really wasted opportunity.
