One of the latest Republican talking points has been that the Senate Intelligence Committee has been working on the possible misuse of intelligence in the buildup to war all along.
Oh
really? Is our memory that short?
Whatever happened to this?:
Morning Edition, March 11, 2005 · The chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee says the probe into whether the Bush administration manipulated pre-war intelligence on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction is over. Sen. Pat Roberts (R-KS) says since the panel earlier found intelligence to be flawed, there's no need to continue the probe. But other officials say the issue isn't dead yet.

They had the balls to completely shut it down just about six or seven months ago, and we're supposed to buy that they've been quietly working on it all this time?
They must really trust that the press are just completely incompetent and/or bought and paid for.
I thought the memory hole was a metaphor for shoddy journalism under totalitarianism. I didn't think it was real. Like, really real. I mean, it's not like we're supposed to dig up some obscure half-relevant statement - this is Roberts' statement immediately upon conclusion of the Commission report.
Is anyone in the mainstream press going back and analyzing these statements? I remember them clearly and was outraged at the time. Are reporters too busy reading faxed talking points and chasing pre-scripted quotes?
Ghaaaa!
