How do we win a race when the Republicans outspend us?
Jerry Kilgore, the Republican candidate for VA Governor has raised over $22 million dollars. This is almost $2 million dollars more than the previous Virginia record. Kilgore has raised $3 million dollars more than our Democratic candidate Tim Kaine.
So what's the big deal? Well let's see, a small 2X3 ad in the Virginian Pilot costs about $1000 for a one time run. Having an extra $3 million dollars means that Kilgore can print 3000 more of these ads than Kaine. Kilgore could have his name on pretty much every page in every newspaper in our state. With that much more money, Kilgore's name is everywhere.
This is a damn close race. If the money was tied, Kaine would be up by 10 points right now. But it's not, so he's only up by about 1 point. That's close enough that Virginia could become the next Florida or Ohio.
So Kossacks, what do we do? How do we win this race with less money?
