At first stunned and bewildered, the international leaders loosened up a little when British Prime Minister Tony Blair, sensing the need for trans-Atlantic support, joined in the antics.
The ever gracious host, Argentine President Nestor Kirchner, eased tensions by standing up and applauding saying, "how can you not love this guy?"
Even Venezualan, President Hugo Chevez, shrugged in astonishment, causing participants to break out in laughter. Earlier, President Chevez has disrupted the dinner by insisting that he be served Ceaser salad for no apparent reaon. The merriment continued when French President Chirac raised his wine glass with a supportive toast saying, "well, one thing that can always be said about the Americans, is that they sure know how to have a fun time at parties - especially when encouraged by the ever famous French Wine." Later certain leaders grumbled that, leave it to President Chirac to try to take credit for Bush's reinvigorated performance and try to get the French back into the center of International relations.
With massive riots in Plaza Del Mar, total stalemate on global issues, degenerating condintions in the Iraq war, and intense interpersonal rancor casting a heavy cloud over the proceedings, only time will tell whether President Bush's intuitive knack and great experience at livening up parties will pay off in long term sustainable diplomatic breakthroughs.
