Bringing a sharp wit to a knife fight is delusional and imperiling in its stupidity. The democrats are going to lose this fight even with the tide of public opinion rising if we don't pick our fights wisely, take off the gloves and toe the line without backing down.
There are no rules in a knife fight, and that is how our opponents have been fighting these last 10 years. They are playing alpha wolf, and we've been rolling onto our backs and whining as they bark and bluster.
Pr. L. Edward Knudson-
It is especially those on the religious right who encourage the use of any
political method as long as it gains victory. For them politics is literally a war, a war against evil, Democrats are socialists, even Communists, they are atheists and in war you
must kill the enemy. No longer are differences between Democrats and Republicans a matter of different political philosophies, or different perspectives on the best way to
govern in a democratic society, but literally this is a war, a cultural war, even a holy war, and one must win at all cost using the knife to slash and cut and kill. Too many
Republican politicians have bought into this way of thinking to get elected, using God-talk, encouraging hatred, claiming the moral high ground, self-rightously attacking and
misrepresenting anyone who disagrees their extremist views.
When we allow them to yell out their challanges without getting right back in their faces, we are empowering them to take more from us. Its gotten so bad that when Senator Frist whined about not being told the stratagys of Harry Reid's cabal to get oversight back , the so-called "liberal" media backed him up.
The republicans call the media liberal because they aren't espousing prayer in church, corperal punishment, death penalties handed out for planned parenthood doctors, and all the other trappings of a fundamentalist state. I haven't heard of any public stoning advocates yet, but give them time.
The media has bent over and allowed the

to color the way the average person sees the news, like looking through a funhouse mirror and allowing a skewed perception of reality to become the norm. We have lost our way as a nation.
Love her, like her, or hate her Cindy Sheehan saw this in us and brought it to the attention of a nation. She has been a leader in the fight to open the eyes of the public to the corruption and lying that is our government today. But her fight is for a small part of the overall picture- ending the war in Iraq. A great goal, and a worthy one. But we can't ask nor would we expect her to broaden her fight and become a leader for us all. We need a leader to pick up the challange and stand up for us. Who can we look to? I like Howard Dean, just because I love a fighter, but I don't see him running the country, maybe the analogy is he could be Ike for a new Roosevelt, but who is can play FDR?
Who'll fight for Truth, Justice, and The American Way?
