The next time someone talks to Cuyahoga County Democratic Party Chairman (and County Cmmissioner) Jimmy Dimora, ask him why he recorded a vicious anti-Issue 3, 4 & 5 radio commercial that was paid for by Ohio First, an alliance of Bush Pioneers and other wealthy Republicans linked to the Householder scandal

Dimora's ad ran at least 4 times during the 5-6 pm time slot on the
Mike Trivisonno Show on
WTAM 1100 AM. Triv's show is the #1 rated show in Northeast Ohio, and WTAM's 50,000 watts can be heard in 13 states and half of Canada.
In the ad, Dimora hit all of the GOP talking points about Issues 3-5: poorly written, no oversight, unnecessary.
So why did he do it?
- Could it be that the Democratic party in Ohio -- or at least in the Cleveland area -- is as corrupt and rotten as the Republican leadership in Ohio?
- Or was it that Dimora was recklessly trying to protect the few Congressional seats that Dems control in NE Ohio, despite the fact that they are the least Gerrymandered in the state and that NE Ohio is the only decidedly Blue portion of the state?
- Or was it that Dimora didn't get the memo that said that the state is so screwed up with Sec. of State Ken Blackwell controlling elections that massive voter fraud and voter irregularities happened in the 2004 elections (and, by the way, the same problems were reported on Tuesday) that Republicans swept the state, and therefore won the presidency, and that most of those problems could have been resolved or avoided if the state had a non-partisan Board of Supervisors been in place controlling the election.
Many of the Ohio blogs (including
democracy guy,
Plunderbund and
rewed fresh daily) are currently wondering aloud about Dimora's actions, which included a Robocall that went out over the weekend (you can hear it
here (mp3 file).
Personally, I plan to run for Precinct Committee member next Spring in the May '06 elections. Once that happens I plan to challenge Dimora personally for his actions, and mount a campaign to get him removed as party chairman. Consider this my campaign announcement. Ohio is busy cleaning up after the scandals wrought by republican leadership. Isn't it a good time for the Democrats to clean house too? Today I picked up a broom. Anyone care to join me for a good old-fashioned Spring ('06) Cleaning?
