I keep hearing experts boasting about how well the economy is doing, and I keep hearing real people complain about their financial situation.
So I decided to look at US Census numbers that had relevance for the middle class. Here's a list of the declining (moving) US median income numbers for the years of the Bush presidency:
1999-2000 $46,094
2000-2001 45,560
2001-2002 44,804
2002-2003 44,514
2003-2004 44,436
During the Clinton administration the median income increased from $40,320 in 1992-1993 at a steady pace each and every year to the $46,094 of 1999-2000.
I see the consistent decline of median income through the last five years as just one more indicator that the Bush administration's policy of failure isn't limited to Iraq. They can screw up at home and abroad.
