Just now on CNN's Situation Room, Rep. Walter Jones (R-NC) said his vote to authorize the President to go to war in Iraq was a mistake. Similar to John Edwards' op-ed this weekend, Jones said, if he knew then what he knows now he would not have voted to authorize war against Iraq.
Since Jones led the call to change french fries to 'Freedom Fries,' he's become increasingly critical of the way the Iraq war was been waged. Earlier this year, Jones stood beside Rep. Kucinish in introducing legislation asking for a firm withdrawal of troops by 10/01/06.
It's been a suprising move by Jones, who sits on the Armed Services Committee and hails from one of the most pro-military areas in the country.
As Jones told CNN in June:
"I based my decision (to back the war) on certain information that has proved not to be true."
Et tu Walter?
