These monsters are the making of Republicans, and now they have dragged the entire world into this fight based on their own greed and prior failed foreign policies. And I say, HOW DARE THEY. So yes, while I was fed up with the bickering on both sides last night, there is no disputing that the brunt of the blame for the tragic mess we find ourselves in today is due to Republicans who in reality have absolutely NO respect for the Constitution and laws they so love to shove down everyone elses' throats when it is convenient for them. And they must be defeated.
Aside from the fact that the Congressional free for all last night was a disgrace (and while I am fed up with the bickering on both sides, the Republicans were especially un-American and downright lowdown and dirty in their tactics,) I am also wondering why some cold hard facts about this war were not presented by the Democrats. Representative Murtha spent all of his allotted time reading what he claimed were letters from those who had lost loved ones in Iraq. Now, I think that is very necessary and poignant...
However, I believe it was a golden opportunity to bring out some other truths about what the occupation of Iraq has done. The recent admission by the Pentagon that White Phosphourous was used in Iraq is disturbing, immoral, and as far as I am concerned, a war crime. Depleted Uranium poisoning is another issue. PTSD, AWOLS, and suicides of troops on the rise is another factor that should have been brought up.The very death of the souls of so many of these young people to the point where they could torture other human beings is the most heinous part of all of this.
And the number one factor that should have been mentioned, was that since the Shock and Awe campaign that began in March 2003, terrorism in Iraq has risen, and Al Qaeda was not present in Iraq before the occupation. In that respect our children are nothing more than sacrifices for terrorists, because these people have concocted the most inane excuse for it that I have ever heard: We are fighting them there so we don't have to fight them here. And the reasons why it is so inane are:
Attack in Spain
Attack in Bali
Attacks in the Phillipines
Attack in London
Attack In Egypt
Attack in Jordan
You see, the fact that Iraqis are now involved in suicide bombings is because of our presence in Iraq, and they are now being performed off of Iraqi soil. It is then a delusion to think that because we have troops in Iraq that terrorists are not located in other countries. There are Al Qaeda cells right here in America and at least 60 other countries! Remember all the terrorist reports that this administration was accused of fudging because it showed terrorism on the rise? It is this administration and this war that is actually precipitating terrorism!
The occupation of Iraq has made that country a breeding ground for jihadists and a training center for generations of terrorists. So when these stupid Republicans say they will not pull our troops out until the job is done, do they realize that may mean NEVER and that may mean taking it to every other part of this world? How do they plan to accomplish that with recruiting levels going down? Gee, I wonder why that is? Now if there ever was a troop morale crusher, the revelation that they may never go home is it!
Do those who support this also then realize what a toll that will take on this country? That is what the terrorists want. They want a long drawn out battle that depletes our economic and spiritual resources. That is truly the battle they hope to win. It is the same situation Russia found itself in in Afghanistan in the eighties, when the Republicans in this country were actually supporting Bin Laden and his muhajardin. I wish that had been mentioned as well.
And there is one more thing they keep saying that shows me what hypocrites they all are. Last night a few of them made reference to the elections in Iraq, and a woman holding up fingers in a V showing her purple finger... So in that vein, if there is truly Democracy in Iraq as they claim, then there is no need to have the same troop levels there that we did when this all started. The fact that they feel there is such a need still, only admits that they are not winning. No exit strategy, no real plan, just propaganda.
I would then not even have shown to give that bill a no vote last night. It wasn't worth it. And that is why I found myself so disgusted with this exchange last night, because once again the Republicans were allowed to set the tone of the debate instead of Democrats holding fast to having the original amendment voted on. It should have been that, or nothing at all. Republicans that supported Bush 1, Reagan, and now this walking disaster have done nothing but support terrorists, and it is because of their support of the muharjadin in Afghanistan and then dumping them when they subsequently had bigger fish to fry, that Al Qaeda was born.
