Creigh Deeds, the Democratic candidate for Attorney General continues
to trailhis right-wing opponent
Bob McDonnell in the race for Virginia Attorney General but he continues to pick up votes as counties tabulate provisional ballots.
Deeds continues to narrow the margin, but it is doubtful that he will overcome McDonnell's lead, which is now about .016% of all ballots cast.
R F McDonnell R 970,883 49.96%
R C Deeds D 970,561 49.95%
Write Ins 1,801 .09%
Though Deeds is unlikely to catch up in the initial tally, he will likely request a recount which he will not be required to pay for given the close result. In the recount he may pick up additional votes, though some of the large counties may have electronic voting machines that make it impossible to recount in those counties.
Keep your fingers crossed! Winning this election (one of three statewide offices) is key to our efforts to growing our bench of future gubernatorial and senate candidates.
