GM has been a pathetic company for a few years now. It can't meet its financial obligations; it can't innovate its way out of a paper bag; and,
news flash,
nobody gives a shit about OnStarTM when gas is $3.00/gallon.
"Oh, boy, my larger-than-Rosie-O'Donnell-at-a-fucking-pie-eating-contest truck has a gadget that can save my life, but the cost of filling the tank means I won't be able to feed my kids. What a deal!"
Their employee discount worked well for a while -- and, by "well," I simply mean it helped them move inventory -- but the company is losing money. It lost a billion dollars in one fucking quarter. And could we, please, stop pretending that there is some mystery behind GM's failure to do, you know, anything? The Japanese companies are crippling the American companies for a reason: They're making better cars.
Why do people buy these shitcans? They're inefficient, terrorist-funding Fuck-You-Mobiles. The Japanese make better cars, better trucks, better bikes, better everything, and, frankly, I'm tired of propping up these enormous, bloated, bureaucratic dinosaur companies in order to make sure that they can waste more money because
no one wants to buy their fucking cars. I don't care if the Chevy gets 30 mpg, Mr. Joe GM-Dealer, because the Honda gets 42! Schmuck.
That goes for Delta, US Scair, American Airlines, United, and the other airline companies. Why, in Christ's name, would I fly US Scair to New York when Southwest can get me there for a fraction of the price?
Many people are concerned about the lack of funding for adult education and the poor performance of our schools, noting how attractive Canada has become to car companies. They're right to be concerned. And you know what the answer is? Stop giving these morons tax breaks and funding, and invest the savings in education, training, and aid, so that working people can find jobs that don't require the rest of us to pay taxes to sustain!
That goes for ethanol subsidies, too.
The American car manufacturers are going to fail, if they continue on this course, and they will have no one to blame but themselves. They should fail. Stop buying cars from people who can't keep the costs low and quality high. Ever notice that you can still find 1970s-era Hondas and Toyautos driving around town? Why do you suppose that is? Because they work, and they're cheap. And, unlike the garbage coming out of the American companies' boardrooms, they're safe. GMs have "OnStarTM Onboard" because their drivers need it.
So, apparently, do their stockholders.
