Ok, so this might not work, or someone thought of it before, or... but reading today about
Bird kill in the Pacific I was struck about some of the news I've read about global warming in the last year, krill dying off, arctic ice melting, mountain glaciers disappearing, etc.
I thought to myself, hmm.. I'll check out Kosopedia and see what it has. Many articles have a 'Dkos diaries and discussion' section at the end, thought maybe....
but no. There was one link.
So I did a search of the diaries and found a few that had been recommended in the last couple months (and the one above) and added a few. I just didn't have time to wade through all the diaries, recommended, not, good, bad, sloppy, great that show up in a search.
but it got me to an idea... recommended diaries are sometimes just 'temporary', sometimes just good but often they are good enough, so well researched, so informative and well written that they should be 'immortalized' something that should be in Kosopedia, making both Dkos and Kospedia more useful and informative.
So, the idea would go something like this.
1) If the author of a diary (or reader) thinks that that diary "might should" (as my grandmother would say) be good enough for a Kosopedia entry "diaries and discussion" entry, then they have a box somewhere on the diary entry where they can recommend which entry that they suggest.
2)this shows up as a button on the diary "Add to Kosopedia entry suchandsuch or suchandsuch
3)subsequent readers click button they think it should go to.
4)once a certain threshold is reached the diary entry gets put into a que for the Kospedia entry for Kospedia editors (that'd be you) to add manually (at least that way the diary wouldn't be 'lost') or even automatically go to the 'diaries and discussion' section. Recommended diaries would most likely be the only ones making the lists (the threshold would be easier to reach if its in teh recommended list) but even non-recommended but great diaries might make it over time (i'd suggest there be no time limit).
i think this would make adding to Kosopedia's usefullness much easier (even after links are added, the info in them could be then added later by editors to the entry itself) and it would help keep some of the best of the best and the most informative easier to find and see for the future research.
ok, now... shoot holes... recommend... add... subtract... tell me i'm a dufus that it's already been done and I'm blind...or justs general major praise for my brilliance :)
