On his
Campaign Blog in yesterday's post Tony Trupiano (Dem candidate for Congress from Michigan's 11th District) lays out his case for why we should impeach President Bush. Check it out, add some comments, give him your support.
Excerpts Below:
Impeachment, Be Unafraid...
As promised, I am writing on the topic of Impeachment today. Why? We'll get to that in a minute, but I do believe it's important we define Impeachment before we apply it.
.......
As of this writing, to the best of my knowledge, there have been 2104 U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq. At lest 30,000 innocent civilians and countless others have been wounded, maimed and dismembered, counting thousands more U.S. troops among those permanently injured. The cost of war in terms of dollars has now reached hundreds of billions of dollars and the meter is still running. The divorce rate among our military is at record levels, and the post-war toll can't be counted for many months or years to come. This is not rhetoric of a partisan attack; these are facts; real figures and measurable numbers. It's called the truth.
If you have been paying attention, and millions of you have, you know that we were "sold" on this invasion in Iraq by the Commander in Chief, George W. Bush, because he told us, among other things, the Saddam Hussein was developing Weapons of Mass Destruction, that he was reconstituting a nuclear weapons program, that Iraq and Saddam were tied to Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda. They have all proven to be lies. We have gleaned from the now famous Downing Street Minutes that there was a concerted effort to "manipulate" intelligence.
............
As an American I want answers, as do millions of other Americans. My heart lies in my patriotism and love of this country we all call home. This writing is not the epitome of an angry, left-of-center Liberal, but of an educated person who has deep passion for the freedom my family has fought for, as have all of your families. This writing is about accountability and the system that allows the House of Representatives to ask, seek, and demand answers to solvable problems, and a reckoning of facts that just don't line up no matter what direction you look at them from.
We must stop partisanship in favor of being right and start looking toward our leadership for, well, leadership. I cannot think of a more non-partisan pursuit than the pursuit of truth. Why don't we stop fighting for how red or blue our states and districts are, and start fighting for what's right and wrong?
...................
All I'm asking for is accountability, and the system we have for that is called Impeachment.
