Dumb! Invoking Dean, Moore, MoveOn

Sat Dec 10, 2005 at 07:52:05 AM PDT

The spinners on the right are fond of invoking their favorite boogieman, Howard Dean, whenever they want to score points against the Democrats. While this tactic has been effective in scaring the less courageous Democratic leaders into distancing themselves from his remarks, it falls short when such remarks are compared with actual reality. For example, when Dean praised American troops for capturing Saddam Hussein, he added that Saddam's capture did not make Americans any safer. Given what we now know that no WMD were found in Iraq and no connection has been found between Iraq and 9/11, it's obvious that Saddam was never a threat to Americans in the first place.

But wait!  There's more...

During his presidential bid, Howard Dean was one of the first politicians to publicly point out that the Bush administration wasn't telling the truth about the reasons for invading Iraq. Now, a majority of Americans believe the president intentionally misled us into war.  Dean was widely criticized for suggesting jail time for Tom Delay. That was before he was indicted by a grand jury for money laundering. Delay may very well end up behind bars.

Now, in saying the idea that we're going to win the war "is just plain wrong", Howard Dean has had the audacity to cut the legs out from under White House claims of a "Plan for Victory" in Iraq. Predictably, the GOP has gone ballistic and again, even some Democrats are criticizing Dean.  But, as it turns out, 68 percent of Americans believe the Bush administration does not have a plan for victory in Iraq.

Invoking the names of Howard Dean, Michael Moore, Move On, etc. is loosing its punch with the general public. Only the True Believers on the far, far right (plus a few Democratic Party leaders who continue to live in fear) are moved by this sort of thing.

Howard Dean will continue to tell the truth about President Bush and his Neocon friends - who even some in the Evangelical movement, are starting to see for who they really are. Happy Holidays.

  •  Said it many times before (4.00 / 2)

What Dean says may not be popular AT THE TIME but if you look back at most of what he has said OVER TIME you'lffind that he is AHEAD OF HIS TIME.

Somebody recently posted a link to an article somewhere detailing Deans comments that have either become widely accepted or have happened but I can't remember where I saw it.

    •  It's on New Republic (none / 1)

I believe the title is "Ignore Dean at Your Peril". There were several diaries about this article and I was disappointed that none of them made the recommended list.

The author of the article has been very critical to Dean. I think his defense of Dean confim  steviemo's observation: "Invoking the names of Howard Dean, Michael Moore, Move On, etc. is loosing its punch with the general public."

  •  I'm getting really tired of this............. (4.00 / 2)

shit by the GOP: paint Howard as an out of control maniac.  Howard is not a maniac, he is a sane, rational human being.  And much smarter than those assholes at the GOP.  It's good to have someone around that actually speaks the truth.  Truth will win out.  I'm getting really tired with the GOP slime machine.

I was really pissed off at the media and the GOP when Howard did his famous outburst that drew much ridicule from them.  The man was showing genuine emotion you jerks!  Something that you all don't know about because you suppress your emotions, which is not good for your emotional well-being.

Howard Dean speaks for me and I am not ashamed to admit it.  I only wish that more Dems in power would acknowledge the same instead of trying to distance themselves from him.....Harry Reid.  I love Harry too, but I feel that him and the others should listen to Howard more, they all have blinders on, they are too entrenched in the politics of the beltway.  Harry, I am sorry but I must disagree with you....policy is NOT to be made by you and the others in the Senate and the House, that's why we have the troubles that we have.

We must all remember that we live in a democracy, which the GOP is trying to destroy.  If the people lead, the leaders will follow.  Come on people, let's put our game face on and get out there and lead!

    Go Howard!    Yeeeaaargh!

If the people lead, the leaders will follow.

  •  Wingnut thesis: Michael Moore is fat, ergo ... (none / 1)

... everything liberals say is WRONG.
    .
The Poorman examines the logic at the core of wingnut philosophy:

[...go experience the cites, the sounds...] And there it is. Proof positive that Michael Moore is fat. Don't try to weasel your way out of this, liberals - you don't check yourself into a fat farm unless you are a fatty-boom-bah-latty, and that's what Moore did. Ergo, he is fat. He has a big fat butt, a swollen beer belly, many jiggly waddles flopping under his chin, big fat sausage fingers, and an all-around doughiness that is the tell-tale sign that someone is a fatty pants, and he needs to do the fatty dance. Fatty fatty fat fat fatty fat fat.
    .
It is now clear to me that the Iraq war is a splendid rip-roaring success, apart from the horrible job the CIA did which made Mr. Bush look like a stupid liar; that no one in the Administration ever said that Saddam was involved with 9/11, even though he was [... funny stuff snipped ...] I had always sort of suspected that this was the case, and now, at long last, I've got the proof: Michael Moore is a big fat no-neck monster who goes to fat camp. And I see no reason to listen to anyone who says different until Moore loses at least 70 pounds. (08/25/05 The Poorman / Editors)
