So I watched this bit from Hannity and Colmes on Crooks and Liars today. It was a about some Democratic reaction to Michael Reagan saying that "Dean should be "arrested and hung for treason" because he (Dean) said that we were losing in Iraq.
Why do these leaders on the left take the bait? Why do they allow themselves to be painted into rhetorical corners with slogans such as "you're Monday morning quarterbacking"?
I'll have the link and more commentary on the segment after the fold...
We all know the familiar tactics of the bully-boys (and girls) on the right. We watch them goad and bait and then we cringe as we watch the lefties walk right into the traps for what seems to me every damn time.
Here's the link so you all can watch the sad performance for yourselves:
H&C segment on C&L
After watching that I had a headache and felt sick to my stomach. Can't the Democrats and left-leaners field better commentators that that? I mean I felt like I was back in middle school watching some fifth-grader get pummeled by a bunch of crazed eith-grade jocks... and all I could do was sit there and watch because I knew I'd get my ass beat down if I stood up and made a move.
How my life changed when I went to high school. I decided to spend one summer vacation weight training and getting in shape. I went back to school and some guy started picking on me. By then I could bench press 200 pounds but I still put up with it. I still had the old whipping-boy mindset. And that's the mindset that the Democratic leaders have today. They're always playing catch-up, making excuses, qualifying their remarks, agreeing with their opponents talking points and selling out their peers anytime they say anything provocative.
Not all of them... but most of them.
I mean, they've got these guys on the ropes! We're benching 200 now, folks. The crushing muscle of reality is now on the side of the left. All the right has is its bully-boy mouth... still, the left's mouths just don't get mad enough. It's like that one guy in that "Dodgeball" movie. He had to get mad before he could really play his best.
These leaders need to heed the advice of Clint Eastwood in that epic western "Outlaw Josey Wales":

.
"Now remember, when things look bad and it looks like you're not gonna make it, then you gotta get mean. I mean plumb, mad-dog mean. 'Cause if you lose your head and you give up then you neither live nor win. That's just the way it is."

I got a beautiful girlfriend in high school. Well, that jealous bully-boy would find us at every event, every dance, every game, every chance and it would start...
Until I got Mad... Mad-Dog Mean! Much to my surprise I picked him up and threw him across the room with ease. Much of his size was just fat. He tried to get up, but down he went again. I could have pummeled him into oblivion, but I knew I didn't have to. His humiliation was enough. No one ever bothered me again.
...........
Why couldn't those sorry guys on H&C come up with something better? Why couldn't they get Mad-Dog Mean..??!!
Why couldn't they say to Hannity, that big bully-boy windbag, "Ok, Dean says we're going to lose in Iraq. So what? That makes him a traitor? I guess that makes guys like
Brent Scowcroft a traitor too...
Why couldn't they say:
"Dean says we're losing in Iraq. Well that's pretty much common sense. It's not the military's fault.
"Our Commander-In-Chief was presented with the best trained, best equipped and best funded military in all of human history combined and still he couldn't manage to protect the twin pillars of commerce in New York and neither could he protect his own military's headquarters in Washington DC, our nation's capital.
"He had the warnings, he had the memos and still he couldn't get off of his vacation-loving ass in Crawford to protect this country from a bunch of tribal Afghan goat-hearders...
"He stood by while his incompetent cronies let an American city drown in filth after being hit by the biggest storm in history... That's a pretty pathetic performance record. So, No, I don't think Dean is out of line when he questions if the Commande-in-Chief is up to the task. You say Dean is a traitor? I say you people are the traitors for defending this incompetence.
"I mean, the US military under a Democratic Commander-in-Chief fought a world war against not one, but three modern industrial facist military machines and we beat all three of them with the help of our allies in the span of four years.
"The US military can win... but is this Commander-in-Chief willing to do what it takes to win? Are you willing to turn all of this nation's resources towards the war effort? Willing to have a universal draft? Willing to take up arms yourselves? In World War Two, taxes on the highest incomes were above 90 percent. Are you two windbag bully-boys willing to give that much to make sure we win...
"Didn't think so.
"It's time for you people to admit that by your unwilligness to sacrifice and by your apologizing for the pathetic performance of this Commander-in-Chief you are in fact the traitors...
"The only thing left for you to do is go home and broadcast yourselves flushing your big fat heads down the toilet!!
................
That's what MAD-DOG MEAN people would say to Hannity and his blowhard bully-buddies... that and much more!
