I am posting an analysis of a poll I took yesterday. It scrolled through the recent diaries in 8 minutes, attracting one comment.
Then I noticed that 16 people had voted in the poll. I had originally hoped to have hundreds of people voting on this subject. The sparse voting seemed to break down as one might expect. But a few issues arise.
Let me make the following observations:
- Voting is still secret in Kos' America. Leaving a rating or giving mojo, in these days, may be a brave act. Is there anything unusual about 16 times as many people reading a diarty and voting in a poll, rather than commenting in some way?
- How many people decided not to vote, but read the diary and the poll?
3, Would a Repug poll show the mirror opposite if phrased like: Is there a left-wing insurgency in America? Has it been going on for a while? Are we close to insurrection? Are we tilting a little towards a left-wing revolt? We are fine. Or, the ruling elite loves us, and hates our enemies.
- If someone with a different sense of humor than I, rephrased these responses, would we get better results?
- If we have absolutely noone, not even a troll, who will vote that our democracy is healthy, then what does it mean for all of us? What does Kos, Armando, Hunter think about this? What do you think Karl Rove will wonder about it? Would it chasten or embolden the Republican majority?
- If so many of us are afraid to actually confront this question, does that prove it is a fact?
I am giving up my anonymity to give you all a place to vote on this in secret. I am old. I have had three families and four children. The youngest are working their way through High School. Two have graduated college. I have lots of arthritis. I do not have much to lose by saying that I would prefer that they and their children did not grow up in a fascist empire, on a corroding planet.
The last time performed a substantive act of rebellion was during the People's Park Protest in Berkeley. I dressed in a white nurse's dress, a white football helmet with a red cross on it, and put flowers into the barrels of the rifles held by Gov. Reagan's National Guards.
It has been a good life. Let me be one of the canaries in the coal mine. I think, I may be only teasing some supercillious old farts. But if I am wrong, could you name a brigade in my memory?
Until then, I'm giving you all another chance to vote. Maybe, we can even break it down by region?
