Gammage to challenge Bell. TX Gov. Race. w/poll

Thu Dec 15, 2005 at 12:23:37 PM PDT

Please excuse if already posted.
Bob Gammage announced today that he is seeking the Democratic nomination for Governor of Texas.
Gammage will face off against Chris Bell in the primary, Bell is not happy about this and his office has issued a very a republican like response, calling Gammage cut-and-run Bob.

Gammage is a veteran of both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy, a former justice on the Texas Supreme Court, former member of the Texas House and Senate, as well as the U.S. House.

This may prove damaging to Kinky, since now a lot of democrats will actually vote in the primary, making them ineligible to sign Kinky's petition to get on the ballot.

The race for Governor of Texas is going to be a really nasty one, Texans wouldn't have it any other way.

This is my first diary, I know it is short but I didn't use the word breaking.

Bell is a good liberal, but he's gonna get slaughtered against Perry, especially if Kinky makes the ballot.  The only people who will vote for Bell are the Austin liberals.

Gammage seems like he has a much stronger chance, and if we can keep Kinky off the ballot, we may even have a chance at beating Perry.  Strayhorn is rumored to be considering an independant run if she loses to Perry in the GOP primary as expected.  If that comes to pass, we might actually be favored to win.

Is there an issue with Kinky getting on the ballot?  I can't figure out why people on this site would support that fucking asshole.

It takes a second to wreck it. It takes time to build.

40,000 signatures from registered voters, who did not vote in either primary in a 2 month time frame.

Not totally sure about those numbers, but the last person who was able to do it was Sam Houston.

Why do you think Gammage has a stronger chance?

Granted, I've only lived in Texas since 1994, but I've never heard of him. Does he have more money or something? Or more name recognition to people other than me?

I'm off to google Gammage and figure out who he is and where he's from and what he's done.

Oh well, I wasn't using that civil liberty anyway.
