Tomorrow (Monday, June 13),
Arnold, Inc. is holding a 5:00pm
press conference to announce his decision on whether to call a special election in November.
On the ballot will be initiatives to:
Impose a spending cap that would trigger automatic cuts if revenue fell below projected income. It would do away with a voter-approved 2000 measure that sets a minimum funding requirement for public schools.
Re-draw legislative and congressional districts by a panel of retired judges.
Extend from two years to five the amount of time teachers would have to work to get tenure.
Prohibit public employee labor groups from using union dues for political contributions unless employee provides prior consent each year.
What the hell do we pay these people for?

Someone needs to explain the concept of
representative government to our immigrant governor. The idea is that we, the people, send representitives to the capital to research, debate and come to informed conclusions on matters of public interest. That way, we can go to our jobs and raise our families, and attend to all of the activities that make up our busy lives.
The Governor thinks that, in addition to our present burdens, we should also have to do his job and that of the legislature. If I have to study all of these issues so that I can make informed votes on them, then I shouldn't be paying those leeches in Sacramento to do it.
The cost of this special election has been estimated to be about $80 million dollars, which is also coming out of my wallet.
Most observers expect Arnold to announce that he will call for the special election. That means we have a whole day to flood his office phones and email box with protests. If we can generate a few thousand phone calls, we can make their phone lines inaccessable for any other business.

This special election is a sham to force his agenda on an unwilling legislature (our representatives) and public (us). He doesn't give a damn about democracy. The turnout for an off-year election will be small and weighted toward whoever has more money to spend on TV ads.
Speaking of TV ads, its not too late for corporate sponsors to lock-in their product placement orders. Arnold's ads will proudly feature your products or logos on countertops, kids t-shirts, or background posters. And for auto manufacturer's, you can still have the Governor get into or out of your vehicle. Just imagine the marketing opportunities that can be yours for a 5-figure or greater donation to Arnold, Inc. And remember, Schwarzenegger Donors Get Private Number for access to his closest advisers - and even the governor himself.
