My list of questions for the day...

Fri Feb 11, 2005 at 08:57:58 AM PDT

With all the fuss around the elections in Iraq 12 days ago, how come nobody in the US has yet mentioned the election results? Clearly, Allawi lost and is doing whatever he can to remain in power.  However, so far, it looks like the Iraqis chose to get closer to Iran.

By the way, in the same article, did you know that 70 Iraqi died yesterday?
Why so much noise and activity around the Gannon/Guckert story??  Are you trying to embarass them and get us a new "Terror Alert"?
I have enjoyed the unusual peace and serenity since the last US elections (Al Qaeda must be so afraaiiiid because W is president... they are so afraid of dying, you know...).
And Condi's lies, existing threats during the summer 2001, etc, have been know for 2 years, it has not stuck to any of them.  Why do you think it will make a difference now that he has been reelected for 4 years?
Sorry, there has been so many reasons to think that such or such story would sink them, and yet, none of them has risen to the scandal level it should have been.  Unfortunately, not enough people use the internet to educate themselves.
I am convinced that W's administration is the most malevolent that can be.  And yet, they will manage to build his image up as they did Reagan's. He is now believed to be an american hero, and most people (Dems alike, at least in public) eat that like an ego booster: the best president for the best country in the whole Universe, ever!
Sorry: I think you are amazing in the research you have done.  I got really excited following the development of your story. Then I remembered that I am tired of having my hopes to see them shamed crushed.
If the media did not talk about the elections irregularities, I don't see why they would dig this one deeper.

  •  I have one question...everyday (none / 0)

    Where's Osama, Mr. Bush?
  •  Keep hope alive (none / 0)

Alexa, the reason to keep that hope alive is that it really does appear that the snake is beginning to eat itself. These various stories that seem to be completely independent at first glance are maybe not so independent.

At the time of the now-infamous "divorced from reality" question, who could have guessed that Gannon-Guckert might have ties to the Plame incident? Which, in its turn, has ties to the mishandling of the intelligence community and its products? Which, in its turn, has ties to the demonstrably false justifications for going to war?

We may yet see empirical reality encroach on the self-determined "reality" that the neocons are trying to establish. The more dots we turn up, the better the chances to connect them.

If you can't laugh at yourself ... we'll gladly do it for you.

  •  Been there BUT!!!!!!! (none / 0)

Not sure how old you are, but I have been where you were, and lived to see my dreams fulfilled, so take heart.  In 1972, I was, as I still am, a liberal (I guess now its progressive in PC language), and I was in the depth of absolute depression when Nixon won by a landslide, an absolute landslide.  I knew what Nixon was, and the idea that so many Americans could be duped by the man made me numb.  Low and behold within 3 short years everyone knew of Nixon's evil nature and he was out.  All it took was one scandal story to stick, as driven home by a few dogged reporters and a deep throated administration insider, whose real motivations may never be know!  Therefore, take heart as each scandal could be the ONE to bring down the house of Bush!

BTW, you poll will be 100% in favor of your reality sightings!

    •  My problem is.. (none / 0)

that I really think a lot of information has been out there for a while: in my mind, "Watergate"-like stories have been out and known in the main press.  Yet, I have never seen that many W stickers in the parking garages on campus, people gloating that they like him for everything he is!
      I am just disgusted.
      •  It was worse in 72! (none / 0)

Bush barely won this past election, and he might have even cheated to squeak by.  It was even closer in 2000, so you are not alone.  In 1972 Nixon took 61% of the popular vote, compared with 38% for his Democrat rival Senator George McGovern. He won 521 electoral college votes and carried 49 states while Mr McGovern took just 17 votes and won only two states, Massachusetts and the predominantly black district of Columbia. So today things are better in that more folks are already against Bush.  The big diference, unfortunately, is that the Repub grassroots have captured more of the Congress and Judiciary than back in 72, and the news meida has been purchased for brainwashing purpsoes by Repub-controlled, rich corporations!

It may be that the latter factors will overwhelm the advantages the Dems had in 72, but they better be damm good at it, as Bush has a lot of detractors now.  This blogger discovered Gannon issue could be the furtile soil for the Bush distractors to finally get some traction going!
