I've seen a lot of people throwing around blame lately for things that are done in our name like the Iraq war, torture, etc...and not a lot of responsibility.
I've seen a lot of people throwing around blame lately for things that are done in our name like the Iraq war, torture, etc...and not a lot of taking responsibility.
Guess what...I pay taxes. I am empowered to write letters to the editor, I am empowered to get in touch with my senator and congressman, I vote, I enjoy all the rights that come from my citizenship in this great nation...
You know what that means?
The war is my fault. It is your fault. It is our fault. If you are an American, it is your fault. If you are a member of the Coalition of the Willing, it is your fault.
I have personal responsibility. You have personal responsibility.
I was reading in the comments yesterday on one of the threads about alleged US use of white phosphorous in Fallujah, Iraq, against civilians, and one of the posters in that thread said that the war was the fault of someone who disagreed with them.
Who the hell's place is it to say someone is responsible for the war just because they happen to disagree?
We are all responsible, because it is being done in our name, and being done by our nation.
I fully understand that certain individuals, eg the President, Cheney, on down may bear a lot more responsibility.
But like I said, it's being done in our name, by our nation.
Now who's fault is that?
